Senior Police Advisors

About the Positions

SCG is seeking to hire both full- and part-time Senior Police Advisors to help foreign governments build effective law enforcement institutions to counter transnational crime and promote the rule of law. These positions would provide mentoring, advising, and training. Advisors would also deliver technical assistance to foreign law enforcement through overseas deployments and domestic training activities. Senior Police Advisors work closely with SCG’s leadership, project team, and other technical experts and with government officials and other key stakeholders.

The ideal candidates will have knowledge and experience engaging with senior government and security officials; working with ministries and institutions (e.g. senior police and/or military academies); and developing and delivering curricula and train-the-trainer programs for security forces. Candidates should also have knowledge of police and/or military competencies and training best practices.

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Willing to travel internationally as required;
  • Fluency in English and at least one other foreign language (Arabic, Farsi, French, and/or Spanish preferred);
  • At least 15 years of relevant professional experience. MA degree preferred;
  • Proven knowledge and experience working with security sector actors (e.g. police, gendarmerie, military) and institutions (police and/or military, ministries of interior and defense).
  • Expertise in the following highly preferred:
  • Police operations (patrol, crime prevention, criminal investigations, special weapons, and tactics);
  • Police technical support (forensics, communications, information management);
  • Police administrative support (finance, personnel administration, procurement logistics);
  • Police leadership, management, supervision, accountability, and organizational development;
  • Combating transnational organized crime;
  • Combating opioids and other controlled substances;
  • Human trafficking and narcotics smuggling;
  • Complex cases in cybercrime, intellectual property rights, corruption, wildlife trafficking, and other environmental crimes;
  • Law enforcement technology and equipment deployment; and
  • Experience training or supporting capacity building activities internationally (or for international trainees or counterparts) for the U.S., other governments, or international organizations.
